The series was based on the manga version of the same name, and closely followed the original story from the first two manga volumes through the first nine episodes, though with some differences.
However, the pacing early on is felt as being "awkward" which "takes time to really find its rhythm". Later, Hazumu goes out shopping with Yasuna and they end up going to a karaoke bar.
