Criticism[ edit ] The act has been criticised for being hastily drafted,  not consulting many groups active in education, not considering the quality of education, infringing on the rights of private and religious minority schools to administer their system, and for excluding children under six years of age.
There is also a provision for special training of school drop-outs to bring them up to par with students of the same age. The Act provides for the establishment of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and State Commissions for supervising proper implementation of the act, looking after complaints and protection of Child Rights.
The Government is committed to this task though real change will happen only through collective action and we must come forward willingly for the same. It lays down the norms and standards relating inter alia to pupil teacher ratios PTRsbuildings and infrastructure, school-working days, teacher-working hours.
A well educated man is a more dependable worker, a better citizen, a centre of wholesome influence, pride to his community and honour to his country. Similarly appointment of teachers had to be approved by the academic committee.
